In a sustained effort to curb illegal mining, the Nurpur Police District has intensified its enforcement drive under the provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act. The special अभियान aims to protect natural resources and prevent unauthorized extraction and transportation of mining materials.
Over the past 24 hours, police teams conducted special checking and naka (check-post) operations in sensitive areas across different police station jurisdictions within Nurpur district. During these operations, joint teams from Police Post Kotla and Police Post Nagrota Surian under Jawali Police Station, along with Police Post Sadwan under Nurpur Police Station, took coordinated action against illegal mining activities.
As a result of the drive, the police seized three tippers and one tractor found involved in illegal mining operations. Additionally, four challans have been issued against individuals engaged in illegal mining and unlawful transportation of mining material. These cases have been forwarded to the competent court for further legal proceedings.
The Nurpur Police reiterated that the campaign against illegal mining will continue with full strictness in the coming days. Officials warned that anyone found violating mining laws will face stringent legal action.
The police also appealed to the general public to actively cooperate by sharing any information related to illegal mining activities, emphasizing that public participation is crucial for the protection of natural resources and maintaining environmental balance.
