In a significant success, the Proclaimed Offender (PO) Cell of Nurpur Police District has arrested a long-absconding accused in a narcotics case from Zirakpur, Punjab.
The arrested accused has been identified as Manish Kumar, son of Rajinder Kumar, resident of Kotla Mangwal village, Tehsil Indora, Kangra district. He was wanted in FIR No. 173/19 dated December 19, 2019, registered at Police Station Damtal under Section 21 of the NDPS Act. Due to his continuous absence from court proceedings, the JMFC Court, Indora, had declared him a Proclaimed Offender (PO).
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the PO Cell team of Nurpur Police—comprising ASI Ramesh Kumar (No. 191) and Constable Sandeep Kumar (No. 246)—successfully traced and arrested the accused from Zirakpur by following due legal procedure. Information regarding the arrest has been conveyed to the accused’s family members.
Following his arrest, the accused was subjected to personal search and medical examination at Civil Hospital Indora. He is being produced today before the JMFC Court, Indora, for further legal proceedings.
Nurpur Police District reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order and stated that strict action against absconders and offenders involved in drug-related crimes will continue.
