The CIA team of Nurpur Police achieved success in recovering narcotics during a raid in the Dumtal area, village Chhanni. This operation was carried out as part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign in Nurpur Police District.
While patrolling and monitoring suspects in Dumtal, the CIA team conducted a search of a house in village Chhanni under a warrant issued as per Section 41(2) of the NDPS Act. The search was carried out in the presence of witnesses, following due legal procedure.
Recovery and Arrest
During the search, 12.76 grams of heroin (chitta) was recovered from inside a flower pot kept in one of the rooms. The accused has been identified as Babli (29), wife of Surinder alias Jhandi, resident of village Chhanni, Tehsil Indora, District Kangra. She has been arrested and further legal proceedings are underway.
A case has been registered against the accused under Section 21 of the NDPS Act at Dumtal Police Station. Investigation is ongoing to identify others involved in the trafficking of the seized narcotics.
The Superintendent of Police, Nurpur, stated that the district police is working under a “zero tolerance” policy against drug trafficking and strict action will continue against such offenders. The public is also urged to immediately share any information related to drugs with the police.
