Nurpur police action against drug mafia: 9 grams heroin seized, one arrested

As part of its ongoing campaign against narcotics, Nurpur Police carried out a successful operation on January 12, 2026. During a naka (checkpoint) at Bhadwar, police apprehended Vaibhav alias Aman, son of Pramod Singh, resident of village Tharot, Shahpur tehsil, Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh.

From his possession, police recovered 9 grams of heroin/chitta. A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 21, 61, and 85 of the ND&PS Act at Nurpur Police Station. The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway.

Police officials confirmed that the arrested individual is a habitual offender. Earlier, he was booked in Dharamshala Police Station for possession of 6.5 grams of heroin/chitta under Sections 21 and 29 of the ND&PS Act.

Authorities stated that the crackdown reflects the district police’s commitment to intensify action against the drug mafia and safeguard youth from substance abuse.
