Bharmour:
A heart-wrenching tragedy struck the Chadi gram panchayat under the Bharmour Assembly constituency of Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh early Monday (July 21, 2025) morning when a massive boulder, dislodged by heavy rainfall, came crashing down onto a house in Suta village, completely destroying the structure. The incident occurred between 2.30 and 3 am.
According to reports, the house belonged to a local resident named Sanju. At the time of the incident, his daughter Pallu and her husband Sunny were staying there. Both were asleep when the boulder hit the house and were *killed on the spot.
Pallu had returned to her parental home just five days ago. Sunny, her husband, had arrived only on Sunday to take her back to their home in Kiyani, Chamba. The couple had been married just four months ago. Locals and officials described the scene as deeply distressing.
Upon receiving the information, local police teams rushed to the spot and have begun relief and recovery operations. The authorities are assessing the damage caused by the landslide triggered by continuous rainfall in the region.
Dr Janak Raj, BJP MLA from Bharmour, expressed grief over the incident and extended his condolences to the bereaved family. He has urged the district administration to provide immediate financial assistance to the affected family.
This incident highlights the growing threat posed by landslides and heavy rainfall in hilly regions during the monsoon season, underlining the urgent need for preventive measures and disaster preparedness in vulnerable areas.
