In his first act as the newly appointed Mayor of Mandi, Virendra Bhat led the Municipal Corporation’s general meeting and greenlit funds amounting to ₹3.50 crores for diverse developmental projects within the municipal corporation area. The Mayor emphasized priorities including making the city garbage-free, enhancing lighting infrastructure, and introducing novel amenities such as a book cafe, AR/VR center, and library.
Addressing key civic concerns, decisions were taken to increase the number of stray dog sterilization centers and allocate additional funds to combat monkey attacks. Mayor Bhat pledged an equitable distribution of development across all wards, underlining a non-political commitment to public welfare.
The meeting covered a wide array of agenda items, ranging from granting food licenses for local shops to discussions about sewerage pipelines, employment opportunities, medical claims, and initiatives for cultural and recreational spaces. The Deputy Mayor, councillors, and other office bearers from the corporation were in attendance, reflecting a collaborative effort towards comprehensive urban development in Mandi.
