Mutilated body of newborn found lying on roadside in Pandoh area of Himachal

MANDI:
The mutilated body of a newborn was found lying by the roadside near Tikri Nullah under the jurisdiction of the mutilated body in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.

The discovery was made by local residents as they were passing through the area for their daily chores. Shocked by the sight, they immediately alerted the local panchayat, which in turn informed the police.

A team from the Pandoh police post reached the spot without delay and took possession of the body. Initial examination revealed that the infant’s body was in a highly mutilated state, with certain limbs and body parts missing.

Investigators suspect the possibility of an animal attack, though they are also exploring the theory that the body may have been dumped elsewhere and later dragged to the roadside by a wild animal.
To ascertain the exact cause and circumstances of death, a forensic team was called to the location. The area was cordoned off and samples were collected for detailed analysis.

Confirming the incident, Mandi Superintendent of Police Sakshi Verma said, “We have taken cognisance of the matter. A forensic team has been deployed to assist in the investigation. Further action will be taken based on the scientific findings and post-mortem report.”

The case has triggered widespread shock and condemnation in the local community, with many calling for a thorough investigation and strict punishment for those responsible if foul play is confirmed.
