Former minister and Jaswan–Paragpur MLA Bikram Thakur has strongly criticized the current political and economic situation in Himachal Pradesh, alleging that people feel deceived by the government’s performance.
In a statement to the press, Thakur said recent election results and national political trends have revealed the priorities of the public. He pointed to delays in salary payments for government and outsourced employees, pending medical reimbursements for retirees, and contractors taking to the streets for the first time over unpaid bills as evidence of the state’s worsening financial condition.
Thakur questioned why, despite continuous borrowing, the government has failed to ensure timely payments, calling it a major challenge of administrative management. He demanded that the government issue a white paper on loans to ensure transparency and clarify where crores of rupees are being spent.
Highlighting the gap between official economic figures and ground realities, Thakur said public dissatisfaction is rising. On youth and employment, he noted that temporary appointments and minimum‑wage jobs are becoming the norm, leaving young people insecure and potentially weakening the state’s development framework in the long run.
He further remarked that even after three years in office, the current government has not delivered any substantial public‑interest decisions, while administrative challenges persist across multiple fronts. Thakur concluded that Himachal’s economic trajectory requires serious review and decisive corrective measures.
