Himachal Speaker Pathania inaugurates ₹10 lakh modern library at Bhattiyat village in Chamba


Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania on Sunday (April 1, 2025) inaugurated a modern library built at a cost of ₹10 lakh at Kakira Jirai village in the Bhattiyat constituency of Chamba district.


The new library aims to provide residents, especially the youth, with access to valuable educational resources.
Equipped with a wide range of books related to competitive exams, newspapers and magazines, the library also features two desktop computers with internet access for public use.

Additionally, CCTV cameras have been installed for security purpose, ensuring a safe environment for all visitors.
Addressing the gathering during the inauguration, Kuldeep Singh Pathania emphasised the importance of quality education for societal transformation.


He reiterated that the Himachal Pradesh government was committed to providing top-notch education across the state and had been taking numerous steps to achieve this goal.
Kuldeep Pathania urged the local villagers, particularly the youth, to make the best use of the newly inaugurated library located within the premises of the Kakira Jirai gram panchayat office.


He encouraged them to use the library to further their educational goals and improve their lives. The Speaker also acknowledged the growing issue of substance abuse affecting the youth in Himachal Pradesh and stressed the need for better alternatives.
He highlighted that the current state government is prioritising quality education, sports activities and the establishment of libraries across the state.

In the last two years, five modern libraries have been opened in the Bhattiyat Assembly constituency, with plans for more in the future. Pathania assured the people that additional libraries would be set up in other areas to further enhance educational access.
On the occasion, the Assembly Speaker also took the time to listen to the local people’s concerns and directed officials from relevant departments to address these issues promptly.


The event was attended by several prominent figures, including Krishna Chand Chela, Director of the State Forest Corporation; Bhattiyat SDM Paras Agrawal, PWD Executive Engineer Narendra Chaudhary, Jal Shakti Department’s Rajesh Thakur, HPSEBL’s Pankaj Rathore, Block Development Officer Munish Chaudhary, Naib Tehsildar Rahul and several other officers and staff from various departments.
