Dalhousie: In a landmark achievement, the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEB) has recorded a profit of Rs 315 crore. Incidentally, this is the first time the board has posted a profit since its inception. The announcement came via a government notification issued on August 1, 2025, marking a historic turnaround for the board that had long been struggling with heavy financial losses.
Congress leader Manish Sareen, who belongs to the Dalhousie Assembly constituency, credited this achievement to the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. Sareen stated that this milestone serves as concrete evidence of the CM’s commitment to structural reforms, as outlined in his call for a “Vyavastha Parivartan” (systemic transformation).
Manish Sareen highlighted the contrast between the past and present, noting that as of March 31, 2024, HPSEB was reeling under a massive loss of Rs 3,742 crore. “To bring the board from such a deep financial deficit to a Rs 315 crore profit within a year is nothing short of historic,” he said.
He attributed this dramatic turnaround to the state government’s strategic reforms, transparent administrative policies and strong financial discipline. “This is a result of sound governance and long-term planning. For the first time in its history, the board is in the green. The Chief Minister deserves full credit and congratulations for this exceptional feat,” Sareen added.
