The sweeping victory of the BJP–Eknath Shinde alliance in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections has triggered sharp political reactions across the country, with BJP MP from Mandi and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut calling the outcome a moment of “divine justice”.

Reacting strongly to the defeat of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), Kangana congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, calling the mandate a clear message against the misuse of power and political arrogance.

“This victory is justice. It is a lesson for those who abused authority and harassed innocent citizens. No injustice lasts forever,” Kangana said.

‘People Have Rejected Arrogance of Power’

Kangana Ranaut linked the BMC results to her personal battle with the Shiv Sena when the party controlled the civic body. In 2020, the BMC had demolished a portion of her Mumbai office, an action later criticised by the Bombay High Court.

Referring to the episode, the Mandi MP said the people of Maharashtra have now delivered their verdict.

“Those who demolished my house in the arrogance of power have now been thrown out by the people. Today, Maharashtra has abandoned them,” she said.

Calling the fall of Shiv Sena (UBT) from the BMC a historic moment, Kangana said the end of the party’s decades-long dominance proves that “the lifespan of injustice is always short”.

‘Divine Justice Has Spoken’

Kangana described the defeat of the Uddhav Thackeray camp as “divine justice”, saying that those who insult women and misuse government machinery inevitably face downfall.

In a viral video message shared on social media, Kangana said:

“Those who insult women and threaten them with bulldozers cannot escape the law of nature. Their fall is certain.”

She recalled how she was allegedly abused, threatened and asked to leave Maharashtra during the 2020 controversy.

Praise for Modi and Fadnavis

The BJP MP credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s political strategy for the massive mandate.

Calling the BMC verdict the return of the “saffron wave” in Mumbai, Kangana said the voters had rejected what she described as “woman-hating forces, goons and dynastic mafia politics”.

“Mumbai has chosen change. The people have given a clear answer to intimidation politics,” she said.

Political Significance of BMC Victory

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is not just India’s richest civic body but Asia’s wealthiest municipal corporation, with an annual budget exceeding ₹74,400 crore. Control over BMC means direct influence over Mumbai’s infrastructure, health services, urban development and civic governance.

The BJP–Shinde alliance victory is being seen as a decisive blow to the political legacy of the Thackeray family, which had dominated the BMC for decades.

Social Media Erupts After Kangana’s Remarks

Following the results, Kangana Ranaut dominated social media trends, with thousands of users recalling her bitter political battle with the Uddhav Thackeray camp. Many supporters described the verdict as “karma” and “poetic justice”.

Political observers say the BMC loss has pushed the Uddhav Thackeray faction into its biggest crisis yet, while giving leaders like Kangana Ranaut a renewed platform to attack the former ruling establishment.

Mumbai’s New Political Chapter

With the BJP–Shinde alliance now in control of Mumbai’s civic administration, a new political chapter has begun in the country’s financial capital. The verdict has not only reshaped Mumbai’s power structure but has also reinforced the BJP’s growing dominance in Maharashtra’s urban politics.

For Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut, however, the BMC mandate is more than a political result — it is a personal and symbolic victory against what she calls the “politics of intimidation”.

“This is not just an election result. This is justice delivered by the people,” she said.
