A shocking and deeply disturbing incident has come to light near Mandi city, where a newborn baby was found abandoned along the Tanroh road on Thursday morning, triggering outrage and concern among local residents.

According to preliminary information, passers-by noticed the body of a newborn lying unattended on the roadside in the early hours. The infant had reportedly been attacked by birds, creating a horrific scene that left commuters traumatised. Locals immediately informed the emergency helpline, following which police rushed to the spot.

A team from Sadar police station reached the location and secured the area. Given the seriousness of the matter, a forensic team was also deployed to collect scientific evidence from the site. The remains of the newborn were taken into custody and sent to the hospital for post-mortem examination.

Investigation Underway

Initial assessment suggests the newborn may be a baby girl, though official confirmation will be made only after the medical report. The autopsy will help determine whether the child was born alive and establish the exact cause and time of death.

As part of the investigation, police are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas and reviewing recent delivery records from hospitals and private nursing homes to identify those responsible.

Officials stated that all possible angles are being probed and strict legal action will be taken against anyone found involved in the crime.

The incident has sent shockwaves across the district, with citizens expressing anguish over the inhuman act and demanding swift justice.
