A powerful landslide struck the Inner Akhara Bazaar area of Kullu late Tuesday night, engulfing a residential house under heavy debris and leaving two individuals missing. Rescue teams, including NDRF personnel, responded swiftly and have been working through the night to locate the trapped victims.

District officials confirmed that the missing include a Kashmiri laborer and an NDRF jawan who were inside the house when the landslide occurred around 11:30 PM. The Deputy Commissioner of Kullu, Torul S. Ravish, and Superintendent of Police Kartikeyan Gokul Chandran visited the site and are overseeing the ongoing search and relief operations.

The area remains under close surveillance as authorities monitor the slope for signs of further instability. Residents nearby have been advised to stay alert, with emergency teams on standby.

This incident follows a similar tragedy in Sundernagar’s Jangambagh, raising concerns about the increasing frequency of landslides in Himachal Pradesh amid persistent rainfall and unchecked hillside construction.
