In view of the increasing incidents of bear attacks in the tribal region of Bharmour, the Khani Panchayat delegation, led by Panchayat Pradhan Shyam Thakur, met ADM Bharmour Kulbir Singh Rana on Monday and submitted a memorandum seeking a permanent solution to the problem.

The delegation highlighted that bear attacks have become a serious threat in the area. Just last week, a woman was killed in Khani village after being attacked while working in her fields. Residents expressed fear that even routine activities such as sending children to school, grazing livestock, or employees going to duty have become difficult due to the menace.

According to the Panchayat, seven people have lost their lives so far in Khani due to repeated bear attacks. ADM Kulbir Singh Rana assured the delegation that the administration would extend all possible assistance to the affected families and take necessary measures to address the issue.

The memorandum submission was attended by Zila Parishad member Anil Dhakog (Khani Ward), Khani Panchayat Vice President Sunil Thakur, Ghared Panchayat Pradhan Milap Singh, BDC member Khani Salochna Devi, BDC member Bharmour Vikram Thakur, BDC member Hadsar, along with other Panchayat representatives.
