Young Tourist Dies in Paragliding Accident at Dharamshala

Dharamshala, January 18: A tragic paragliding accident claimed the life of a 19-year-old tourist from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, at the popular Indru Naag paragliding site in Dharamshala today. The incident occurred around 5 PM when Bhavsar Khushi, daughter of Jignesh Bhavsar and a resident of Sahjanand Avenue, Naranpura, Ahmedabad, fell from the take-off point along with the assistant paragliding guide.

The paragliding assistant guide, identified as Munish Kumar, son of Pyare Lal and a resident of Tahu Chola, Dharamshala, sustained minor injuries and was saved. Unfortunately, Khushi succumbed to her injuries while being rushed to the Zonal Hospital, Dharamshala.

Khushi was on a family trip to Dharamshala when the tragic incident unfolded. Preliminary reports suggest that the accident might have been caused by a mishap during the take-off. However, the exact cause is yet to be ascertained, and the police have initiated an investigation into the matter.

The deceased’s body has been sent for a postmortem examination at the Zonal Hospital and will be handed over to the family afterward.

This incident has raised concerns over the safety measures and protocols being followed by paragliding operators in the region. Indru Naag is a well-known paragliding spot, attracting adventure enthusiasts from across the country, but today’s tragedy highlights the risks associated with the sport.

Further investigations are underway, and authorities are expected to review safety standards to prevent such mishaps in the future.
