Kangra District Sees Major Success in National Lok Adalat, ₹14.94 Crore Recovered

Dharamshala: In a significant event, the National Lok Adalat was organized on 14th December 2024 in all courts of Kangra district, under the leadership of Shri Rajeev Bali, the Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority and District and Sessions Judge, Dharamshala. The event aimed at resolving a wide range of legal cases, including pre-litigation matters, NI Act cases, debt recovery issues, labor disputes, cases related to essential services (such as electricity and water bills), Section 125 of the Criminal Procedure Code (maintenance matters), compoundable criminal cases, motor accident claims, family disputes, land acquisition cases, revenue matters, and other civil issues.

A total of 10,346 cases were scheduled for resolution, including both pre-litigation cases and those pending in court. Out of these, 6,050 cases were successfully settled through mutual agreement. A total amount of ₹14,94,49,018 was recovered during the proceedings, marking a significant achievement in terms of resolving disputes and providing relief to litigants.

This initiative is part of the ongoing effort to ease the burden on the judicial system by promoting amicable settlement of disputes, ensuring speedy justice, and enhancing access to legal services for the public.

The success of this Lok Adalat reflects the commitment of the District Legal Services Authority in making justice accessible to the masses and contributing to the reduction of pending cases in the judicial system.
