A newly constructed panchayat bhawan at Sarol gram panchayat was jointly inaugurated by Kangra Lok Sabha MP Dr Rajeev Bhardwaj and MLA Neeraj Nayyar. The ground floor of the panchayat bhawan has been built at a cost of Rs 40 lakh.
The event was also attended by Bharmour and Dalhousie MLAs Dr Janak Raj and DS Thakur, and several senior district officials and dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, Rajeev Bhardwaj emphasised that the event represents a perfect blend of politics and public service aimed at holistic development. He appreciated the quality of construction and the efficient use of available resources, calling it “an excellent example of optimal resource utilization”.
Dr Bhardwaj also announced an additional grant of Rs 10 lakh for the panchayat bhawan and reminded the audience that he had earlier contributed Rs 7 lakh for its construction. Expressing optimism for the future, he said that Sarol gram panchayat would soon emerge as a role model for other panchayats in the region.
In his address, MLA Neeraj Nayyar stated that the state government had sanctioned Rs 1.04 crore for the construction of new panchayat bhawans, provided that the panchayats concerned possessed at least five bighas of land. He further announced that Rs 20.22 crore has been allocated under the sewage disposal scheme to improve public amenities in Sarol, Rajpur and Haripur panchayats.
Commending the achievements of the local body, Nayyar said that Sarol panchayat has set a new benchmark in development and good governance. He extended his congratulations to the villagers for the newly built panchayat bhawan and assured them of continued support and better civic facilities in the future.
The ceremony was attended by Additional District Magistrate Amit Mehra, District Development Officer Tivendra Chinoria, Block Development Officer Mahesh Chand Thakur, Assistant Engineer (Electricity) Ajay Kumar, Zila Parishad member Seema Nariyal, Manoj Kumar, panchayat pradhan Vijay Kumari, deputy pradhan Dheeraj Naryal and a large number of local residents.
