MANDI: BJP candidate from Mandi for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 Kangana Ranaut took a swipe at the ruling Congress in Himachal Pradesh, calling in “outdated and one lacking in vision”.
Kangana instead said that Himachal deserved a dispensation headed by the BJP, which would have an inclusive approach. She said compared to the BJP’s “reward the talent” policy, the Congress had allegedly only been promoting dynasty politics.WhatsApp Image 2024 04 26 at 13.51.01

The comment was seen as a jibe aimed at her Congress rival Vikramaditya Singh, who is the son Himachal Congress president Pratibha Singh and six-term Chief Minister late Virbhadra Singh. Incidentally, Kangana grandfather too has remained a Congress MLA.

Addressing a gathering during the “Panna Pramukh Sammelan” organised in Baldwara area of her home constituency Sarkaghat in Mandi, Kangana praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts in providing 33 per cent reservation for women in state Assemblies and the Lok Sabha, emphasising the need for women’s participation in politics. She underscored the Modi government’s commitment to inclusive development, contrasting it with the alleged corruption and policy failures under the Congress rule.

The BJP’s star campaigner emphasised the necessity of a stable government in Himachal Pradesh for long-term development, drawing parallels with the governance model of the Modi administration at the Centre. She criticised the Congress for what she perceived as hollow promises and questioned their commitment to women’s empowerment.
The actress-turned-politician urged voters to consider the track record of both parties and make an informed decision in the upcoming elections. She was joined by local MLA Dalip Thakur and opposition leader Jai Ram Thakur at the rally.
