Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur criticised the Himachal Pradesh government for planning a three-year celebration despite “massive disaster mismanagement”. He said nearly 500 people died and thousands were displaced, yet the state “could not distribute even ₹400 crore” while the Centre has already provided over ₹5,500 crore in relief since 2023.
Thakur said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment of ₹1,500 crore for Himachal is “certain”, and demanded the state clarify how Central aid has been utilised. Referring to Bihar’s NDA sweep, he said it reflects public trust in Modi’s leadership and predicted a similar outcome in Himachal.
He also accused the Chief Minister of being “non-serious” in the Assembly and ignoring key issues. On the Sanjauli mosque matter, he said the government must follow the court’s order.
Alleging that the government is trying to delay panchayat elections, Thakur said the CM’s statements clearly show “an intention to obstruct timely polls”.
