International Women’s Day and Chamba Day Celebrated with Enthusiasm

Under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal, International Women’s Day and Chamba Day were celebrated today with great fervor at the historic Akhand Chandi Mahal’s Darbar Hall.

The event, themed “Celebrating Chamba and the Spirit of Women”, highlighted women’s achievements, contributions, and their vital role in society. Distinguished guests included Assistant Commissioner Aparajita Chandel, Deputy Director of Sainik Welfare Captain (Retd.) Anumeha Parashar, and DIET Principal Namrata Sharma.

In his address, DC Repaswal emphasized that true equality in society requires continuous and collective efforts. He urged that beyond symbolic celebrations, focused work on key issues such as education, health, and social equality is essential to bring lasting change. He noted that discrimination, even at small levels, impacts children’s psychological growth, and called upon families to adopt equality at home.

The Deputy Commissioner also appealed to Anganwadi workers to initiate positive change within their households, ensuring its ripple effect across society. He inaugurated the program by lighting the ceremonial lamp and distributed cheques of ₹10,000 and ₹12,000 to meritorious girl students of Classes 10 and 12 who brought laurels to Chamba district.

  • Ms. Diksha Mehra — Sanitation Initiatives

🎭 Cultural performances by Anganwadi workers, social organizations, and children added vibrancy to the celebration.

🏛️ Chamba Day Discussions at Bhuri Singh Museum
Earlier, a special discussion was held at the Bhuri Singh Museum auditorium under DC Repaswal’s chairmanship. He urged youth to actively participate in preserving and promoting Chamba’s rich folk art and culture, stressing that safeguarding heritage is a collective responsibility. Contributions of organizations like Not On Map, Prayas, and Drona Samiti were appreciated.

🚶 Heritage Walk Showcases Chamba’s Legacy
Continuing the celebrations, a heritage walk was flagged off from Bhuri Singh Museum to acquaint participants with Chamba’s historic temples, monuments, and cultural treasures. District Tourism Officer Rajiv Mishra, District Language Officer Tukesh Sharma, and Museum Curator Surender Kumar shared detailed insights during the walk.

The event saw participation from senior officials including Chief Medical Officer Dr. J.S. Bhardwaj, District Development Officer Tevendra Chinoria, District Program Officer Kamal Kishore Sharma, Tehsildar Bhupendra Kashyap, Assistant Engineer Nitika Thakur, Anganwadi workers, social organizations, and students.
