DHARAMSHALA: Bharatiya Janata Party national president Jagat Prakash Nadda’s much-anticipated two-day tour of Dharamshala commenced on Saturday (February 3, 2024), albeit encountering unforeseen challenges due to adverse weather conditions gripping the state.
The inclement weather forced a change in plans as Nadda’s scheduled landing at the Gaggal Airport in Kangra was thwarted, necessitating an alternative route via Pathankot. Consequently, the planned roadshow from Gaggal to the Zorawar Stadium in Dharamshala where his rally is scheduled on Saturday morning had to be cancelled, disappointing scores of enthusiastic supporters eagerly anticipating Nadda’s arrival. The BJP president’s visit to the Brajeshwari temple in Kangra was also called off.
Enthusiasm among party workers is palpable, reflecting the heightened anticipation surrounding Nadda’s visit. During the rally, Nadda will lay the basis of victory in the Lok Sabha elections with the unity of the party and the organisation. The BJP claims a massive turnout saying 15,000 supporters had converged in Dharamshala for Nadda’s rally.
This will be the BJP chief’s first visit to Kangra parliamentary constituency after the party’s recent victory in the Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. Earlier, Nadda had visited other parliamentary constituencies of the state and exhorted the workers to unite for the Lok Sabha elections.
Kangra parliamentary constituency is important from the political point of view. In the last Lok Sabha elections, the party candidate from this parliamentary constituency had the distinction of securing the lead of the highest number of votes. While Nadda will make election noise at Zorawar Stadium in Dharamshala on Saturday, on Sunday he will brainstorm on the Lok Sabha elections with senior party leadership, including MLAs, former MLAs and other office-bearers in Dharamshala itself.
