Hundreds of women from different parts of Shimla district on Tuesday (March 12, 2024) met Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at his residence Oak Over in Shimla and expressed their gratitude for implementing the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi that entails a monthly grant of Rs 1,500 to women aged 18 to 60 years.
The Chief Minister said that the state government had fulfilled its fifth election guarantee by implementing the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana. He said that the government was committed to the welfare of every section of the society and many innovative initiatives and schemes were being implemented.
“The government has fulfilled five of its guarantees in just 13 months of its regime, the first being providing OPS to benefit 1.36 lakh government employees. The Rajiv Gandhi Start-up Scheme of Rs 680 crore was launched with the objective of providing self-employment opportunities to the unemployed youth so as to encourage entrepreneurship.
The government has also made a historic increase in the support price of cow and buffalo milk and in the support price of wheat and maize to promote natural farming,” the CM said.
The Chief Minister said that the state government faced various challenges arising due to the disaster last year with determination and was continuously making efforts to strengthen the economic condition of the state and has taken several initiatives to enhance its resources. The state government had adopted zero tolerance towards corruption, he reiterated.
Shimla Municipal Corporation Mayor Surinder Chauhan expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister and urged to set up Shimla Haat in the town.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries Sunder Singh Thakur and Ram Kumar Chaudhary, Vice-Chairman of State Planning Board Bhawani Singh Pathania, MLA Vinod Sultanpuri, HIMUDA Vice-Chairman Yashwant Chhajta, Deputy Mayor Uma Kaushal, OSD to the Chief Minister Ritesh Kapret and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
