HPNLU Kicks Off ‘Drona 5.0’ with Grand Inauguration Ceremony

Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, was abuzz with energy and excitement today as it inaugurated the fifth edition of its annual intra-university sports fest, Drona 5.0. The opening ceremony marked a vibrant beginning to what promises to be a thrilling showcase of athleticism, team spirit, and youthful vigor.

Vice-Chancellor Leads the Charge

The event was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of HPNLU, Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. She was warmly received by faculty, staff, and students before officially opening the fest. In her inaugural address, Dr. Saxena lauded the enthusiasm of the student community and underscored the importance of sports in developing character, discipline, and a sense of camaraderie.

“Sports are not just about winning medals. They teach us integrity, teamwork, and perseverance — values that are as essential in life as they are in law,” she remarked, encouraging participants to compete with both zeal and fairness.

Earlier, the Chairperson of the Sports Committee, Dr. Praveen, set the tone for the event with an energizing welcome speech. He highlighted the transformative role of sports in student life, citing its ability to nurture leadership, resilience, and a balanced mindset.

Diverse Events and Strong Participation

This year’s edition of Drona features participation from over 300 student athletes, competing in a wide array of sports such as futsal, badminton, volleyball, cricket, chess, eSports, and multiple other indoor and outdoor games. The fest is designed not just as a competitive arena, but also as a cultural celebration of unity and youthful determination.
