The Regional Office in Banikhet celebrated Hindi Fortnight with great enthusiasm from September 14 to 29, 2025. The observance commenced on Hindi Diwas, September 14, with a message from Executive Director Shri Om Prakash circulated to all employees and power stations. The formal inauguration was conducted by Hon’ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shah from Gandhinagar, with senior officials from Banikhet participating virtually.
Throughout the fortnight, a variety of competitions were organized for officers and staff, attracting participation from 26 employees. Events included quizzes, noting-drafting, Hindi vocabulary challenges, poetry recitation, and typing contests. Winners were felicitated for their performances.
A special exhibition of Hindi books was also held in the office library, inaugurated by Shri Om Prakash, who emphasized the importance of regular reading and suggested further enrichment of the library.
As part of the observance, departmental implementation of the Official Language Policy was reviewed. The Human Resources Department was awarded the “Rajbhasha Chal Shield” for the year 2024–25.
A seminar on “Harmony Among Indian Languages” was also held, featuring discussions on Hindi, Telugu, Punjabi, and other regional languages. On September 29, a meeting of the Official Language Implementation Committee was convened, where department heads and nodal officers deliberated on enhancing Hindi usage.
The main ceremony and prize distribution took place on September 30, with Executive Director Shri Om Prakash as the chief guest. He honored the winners and members of the judging panel. Messages from Union Ministers and the Chairman & Managing Director were also read during the event.
Shri Om Prakash urged all employees to fulfill their constitutional responsibility by increasing the use of Hindi in official work and correspondence, and ensuring compliance with Section 3(3) of the Official Languages Act, 1963. The event concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Shri Desh Raj and warm congratulations to the winners.
This Hindi Fortnight proved to be not only a celebration of competitions and cultural programs but also a meaningful initiative to promote and strengthen the use of Hindi as the official language.
