With frequent failures of samples bringing a bad name to the Himachal Pradesh drug industry, the state government has warned manufacturers of cancelling their licence if two or more samples failed quality checks.
The warning was issued by Himachal Pradesh Health Minister Colonel Dhaniram Shandil while speaking to journalists in Solan. He said the state government would blacklist drug units where two or more samples failed quality tests.
20 drug manufacturers on govt’s radar
Dhaniram Shandil e said 20 companies were repeatedly failing to meet standards, and that the government had their names and was prepared to take decisive action.
Highlighting concerns over the state’s reputation, Shandil emphasised, “The image of Himachal Pradesh is being tarnished by such industries. The quality of medicines must be upheld.”
He said drug department officials had been instructed to intensify monitoring efforts, with all drug manufacturers warned that failure of two or more samples will result in strict consequences. Despite these warnings, repeated failures persist, prompting the government’s latest decision.
Clarifies govt stand on Rs 1,500 grant to women
Addressing a separate issue, Shandil reassured the public on the distribution of financial assistance to women, clarifying that all eligible women would receive Rs 1,500 monthly. He dismissed the opposition BJP’s claims suggesting a budget shortage, affirming, “There is no lack of funds for this scheme, and eligible women will certainly receive this support.”
In another development, the government announced increased production at Jogindernagar, the state’s largest Ayurvedic pharmacy. Approximately 34,000 quintals of medicines for heart, diabetes and skin ailments will be manufactured. With a fresh supply of raw materials, Jogindernagar’s facilities will also produce Ayush decoctions and 14 types of Ayurvedic medicines, including pain-relieving oils and throat remedies.
