Kangra— Discontent among unemployed youth in Himachal Pradesh surged as Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited the state, with sharp criticism directed at the party’s failure to deliver on its 2022 election promises.

Shrey Awasthi, State Convenor of the Himachal Unemployed Youth Federation, led the charge, accusing the Congress government of neglecting its commitments to the youth. “In 2022, Congress promised jobs, unemployment allowance, and new opportunities. But three years later, not a single major promise has been fulfilled,” Awasthi said, questioning how the party plans to seek votes in 2027.

He alleged that the government has failed to formulate a clear employment policy or implement transparent schemes to support jobless youth, leaving many disillusioned. “Even with top Congress leadership present in Himachal yesterday, not a single word was spoken about youth or employment. This shows that our concerns are no longer a priority,” he added.

Awasthi demanded a public clarification from Rahul Gandhi on the status of the 2022 promises and a timeline for their fulfillment. “The youth of Himachal have learned to ask questions — they won’t settle for slogans anymore, they want real answers,” he concluded.

The protest reflects growing frustration among young voters, who are increasingly vocal about accountability and transparency in governance.
