Himachal Pradesh is currently experiencing clear skies and pleasant weather, with moderate daytime temperatures across most regions. However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a significant change in the weather pattern later this week as a fresh western disturbance is expected to bring rain and snowfall to the state.
Over the next two days, the weather in Himachal Pradesh is likely to remain stable, with sunny conditions prevailing in Shimla, Dharamshala and Kullu. Daytime temperatures are expected to range between 15°C and 25°C, making it ideal for outdoor activities and tourism.
However, the higher reaches, including Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur and Chamba, may experience chilly mornings with temperatures dropping to as low as 5°C.
From the night of February 18, the western disturbance is expected to become active, bringing widespread rain and snowfall to the state. Key tourist destinations such as Rohtang Pass, Narkanda and Manali are likely to witness moderate to heavy snowfall.
Medium and lower-altitude regions, including Shimla and Solan, may experience light to moderate rainfall. The Atal Tunnel and Jalore Pass could also see fresh snowfall, potentially disrupting traffic and affecting travel plans.
The IMD has issued an advisory for residents and travellers, urging them to stay updated on weather forecasts and prepare for possible disruptions.
The snowfall is expected to intensify the cold wave in higher-altitude areas, with temperatures likely to drop further. Farmers have been advised to take necessary precautions to protect their crops, as the rain and snowfall could impact agricultural activities.
