Accused arrested; victim student at AIIMS-Bilaspur

A case of sexual assault has been registered by a student of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh.
An MBBS trainee at the institution has filed a complaint against a man from Uttar Pradesh, accusing him of r*aping her under the false promise of marriage.
According to police sources, the complaint was lodged at the Bilaspur police station, following which legal proceedings have been initiated.
Victim alleges assault in Chandigarh hotel
As per the details shared in the FIR, the survivor had been in a relationship with the accused, a resident of Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh. On September 16, the accused allegedly invited her to Chandigarh on the pretext of meeting and discussing their future together.
Upon her arrival in Chandigarh, the accused had already booked a hotel room. The victim alleges that during their stay, the man coerced her into a physical relationship by promising to marry her. However, she claims that the accused later refused to marry her, prompting her to approach the police.
Accused taken into custody, transit remand initiated
Acting swiftly on the complaint, the Bilaspur police registered a case and began an investigation. The accused has been taken into custody and is currently being brought to Himachal Pradesh on transit remand for further legal proceedings.
A senior police official confirmed that the matter is being handled with sensitivity and all necessary legal protocols are being followed.
