Shimla: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking in Himachal Pradesh, the Shimla police have arrested two brothers from Jind in Punjab who smuggled ‘chitta’ (heroin) into the city for drug kingpin Sandeep Shah.
The accused, identified as Ashish, alias Manish, alias Goswami, alias Ravan, and Ajay, alias Gandhi, revealed during interrogation that they had been delivering the chitta for Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 per trip from Delhi and other states.
Police investigations indicate that the accused had been part of the narcotics supply chain for several years, working under Shah’s network.
Arrested after leads from kingpin of Shah chitta gang
The authorities have seized their mobile phones, which contain incriminating videos showing packets of chitta being carefully packed and hidden for distribution. The court has remanded both accused to police custody until March 8 for further interrogation.
The police are also scrutinising the bank accounts of the accused to track financial transactions linked to drug trafficking.
The duo was apprehended based on leads obtained from the interrogation of Sandeep Shah and Nigerian national Samuel, alias Mark, who was recently arrested in Shimla for his role in the drug trade.

In a dramatic turn of events, Samuel attempted to evade capture by jumping off the Tripura Sundari Express while it slowed down at platform number 13 of Delhi railway station.
However, the police were closely trailing him and managed to nab him after a brief chase. Investigators are now probing his connections with narcotics networks along the Bangladesh border in Agartala, suspecting his involvement in multiple criminal activities.
Haryana brothers didn’t consume drugs themselves
Interestingly, the arrested brothers do not consume chitta themselves but have played a significant role in pushing thousands of youths into drug addiction.
Sandeep Shah is believed to have lured hundreds of young men into his illicit business, using them as couriers to transport drugs across states. According to officials, Shah also used courier services and other channels to smuggle narcotics into Himachal Pradesh.
