Himachal news: Two dead, two injured as car plunges into gorge on Dalhousie-Pathankot NH in Chamba


Dalhousie:
Two persons were *killed and two others injured when the car they were travelling in met with an accident Dalhousie-Pathankot National Highway in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday (May 1, 2025) night.


According to information, the accident occurred near the Dawalu bridge, close to Banikhet, when the car veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge around 11.30 pm.
The occupants of the vehicle, a Maruti 800, were reportedly en route from Banikhet to Lahad when the driver lost control.

The car was carrying four persons, two of whom *died on the spot. The deceased have been identified as Mohinder Kumar, a resident of Tretha village under Junta panchayat, and Ashok Kumar from Lahad village of Bhalai panchayat.


The injured, Amit Kumar from Parihar village and Devraj, a mechanic from Junta panchayat, sustained serious injuries. They were initially rushed to the Civil Health Centre in Dalhousie for first aid and later referred to Chamba Medical College for advanced treatment.

The police have started inquest proceedings and an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
