Himachal in grip of gang war, public in state of shock, alleges BJP MP Suresh Kashyap

Shimla: Former Himachal Pradesh BJP president and Shimla MP Suresh Kashyap has alleged that the state is witnessing a frightening surge in gang wars, leaving the public in a state of fear.

Suresh Kashyap claimed that the state’s law and order situation had spiralled out of control, citing the recent firing incident in Bilaspur district targeting former Congress MLA Bumber Thakur as “deeply unfortunate and worrisome”.

Concern over rise in incidents involving contract shooters

Addressing the media, Suresh Kashyap expressed grave concerns over the rise of contract shooters in the state, stating that such incidents were unheard of in Himachal Pradesh before.

“This is Devbhoomi and we condemn the prevalence of such criminal activities. The increasing influence of various mafias is fuelling gang wars, endangering the safety of residents,” he said.

Government’s failure to maintain law and order

Suresh Kashyap questioned the state government’s ability to ensure security, asking, “If even ruling party leaders are not safe, then who is?”

Highlighting a series of alarming incidents, he pointed out cases where police personnel were shot at, government officials were assaulted, government residences were attacked, moving vehicles were targeted, and truck drivers were threatened at gunpoint.

“If we start listing such incidents, the count will be endless,” he remarked.

Slams Congress leaders over politically motivated statements

Suresh Kashyap also criticised Congress leaders for making politically motivated statements regarding the recent shooting of a party leader.

While the state government has formed an SIT and initiated an inquiry, he accused the injured Congress leader of making baseless personal allegations instead of identifying the assailant.

“If the person who fired the shot has been apprehended, he can be identified. Instead, Congress leaders and their associates are making direct accusations, which are politically motivated,” he asserted.

Accuses Congress leaders of being habitual liars

Furthermore, he accused Congress leaders of being habitual liars, suggesting that the public was well aware of their deceptive tactics.

“We urge Congress leaders to refrain from making false personal accusations as such attempts to tarnish others’ reputations may ultimately damage their own credibility,” he warned.

The allegations of deteriorating law and order in Himachal Pradesh have sparked a fresh political row, with the opposition BJP intensifying its attacks on the ruling Congress government. As investigations proceed, the state’s residents remain on edge, hoping for swift action to curb the rising menace of organised crime.
