SHIMLA: A 15-year-old girl from Shimla in Himachal Pradesh who went missing after her mother stopped her from using a mobile phone was traced by police to Nawanshahr in Punjab, officials said. The incident took place on October 27 when the minor, upset after being scolded for using her phone, left home without informing anyone.
Her family initially believed she would return soon, but when she did not come back, they began searching for her in the neighbourhood. After failing to locate her, they lodged a complaint at the Sadar police station on October 28.
Girl location was found in Nawanshahr
Following the complaint, the police began an immediate search operation, using technical surveillance and other investigative tools to trace the girl’s movements. During the probe, her location was found to be in Punjab’s Nawanshahr district.
A police team was then dispatched to Punjab, where they successfully located the missing teenager. She was brought back to Shimla on the evening of October 29.
After completing necessary formalities, the police handed the girl over to her parents. Officials said the case highlighted the growing challenges of mobile phone addiction among minors and the need for greater awareness among children about the responsible use of technology.
