Kangra:
The 2nd India Reserve Battalion (IRBn), stationed at Sakoh in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, marked a proud milestone as it celebrated 25 years of dedicated service to the state and nation with grand silver jubilee celebrations on the occasion of its 26th Raising Day on September 15, 2025.
The event witnessed a series of sports and cultural activities, reflecting the battalion’s commitment to discipline, physical fitness and camaraderie. Officers and jawans participated with great enthusiasm, embodying the spirit of service and unity that has defined the battalion since its inception.
The celebrations were graced by Himachal Pradesh Director General of Police Ashok Tewari as the chief guest. He was warmly welcomed by Khushal Sharma, an IPS officer who is the commandant, 2nd IRBn-Sakoh, along with senior officers and personnel of the battalion.
In his address, DGP Ashok Tewari congratulated the battalion on completing 25 years of exemplary service and lauded the force for its consistent contributions to internal security, disaster response and public service in Himachal Pradesh. He commended the unit’s discipline, readiness and professionalism, emphasising the importance of continued training and teamwork in today’s dynamic law enforcement landscape.
The DGP asked all police personnel never to dismiss any complaint saying what appeared minor to them may mean life or death for someone. “No posting or duty is small; wear the uniform with humility, not pride or attachment. Medals don’t bring respect but your actions do. Officers must not work from behind a desk but lead from the front. Encourage respectful compliance from juniors as lack of feedback often causes harm. Our uniform gives us power, but its true strength lies in winning hearts,” he added.
