Himachal crime: Half-naked body of woman found in Chamba govt school, had recently retired from job

A shocking incident has come to light from Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh where the body of a woman was discovered in a suspicious condition on the premises of a government primary school. The incident occurred near the tehsil headquarters of Chowari at the Kuthad Government Primary School located in Kudanu panchayat.


The woman’s body was found early Tuesday (August 19, 2025) morning by local residents who were passing by. According to eyewitnesses, the body was lying unclothed in the school compound. The locals raised the alarm and informed the police.


The deceased has been identified as Kamla Devi, wife of Maghar Singh, a resident of Kuthad village. She had recently retired from the Jal Shakti Department. The incident has led to a high-level investigation.
Upon receiving the alert, a police team led by Station House Officer (SHO) Raman Chaudhary reached the site and began collecting evidence. Forensic experts and a dog squad were also called in to assist in the investigation.


The SHO confirmed that a case had been registered and a thorough investigation was underway. “All angles are being examined. Postmortem of the body will be conducted once the forensic team completes its preliminary examination,” he said. The police have refrained from making any conclusive statements until the investigation is complete. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community.
