Himachal Congress must be led by someone with ‘real support base’, shouldn’t be ‘rubber stamp’: Sukhu's minister Vikramaditya

Shimla: In a candid interaction with mediapersons on Monday, Himachal Pradesh Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh emphasised the necessity for the state Congress president to possess substantial influence across multiple districts.

“The Congress state president should not be a rubber stamp,” Vikramaditya asserted, highlighting the importance of proactive and impactful leadership within the party’s state unit.

Vikramaditya, son of the late six-time Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, has been vocal about internal party dynamics, advocating for a leadership style that resonates with grassroots workers and addresses regional aspirations. His remarks suggest a call for a more decentralised and responsive organisational structure within the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC).

This statement comes amidst ongoing discussions within the party regarding organisational reforms and the need to rejuvenate its base in the state. Vikramaditya’s emphasis on a leader with influence in “three to four districts” indicates a strategic approach to consolidating the party’s presence across Himachal Pradesh’s diverse regions.

Political analysts interpret Vikramaditya’s comments as a push for a leadership model that balances traditional party values with contemporary political challenges. By advocating for a president who is more than a ceremonial figure, Vikramaditya underscores the need for dynamic leadership capable of navigating the complexities of state politics and strengthening the party’s grassroots connections.
