Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has criticiced Congress turncoats and former Dharamshala and Sujanpur MLAs Sudhir Sharma and Rajinder Rana, accusing them of prioritising the transfer of officers over development in their constituencies.
According to Sukhu, officers in Dharamshala were replaced solely upon Sudhir’s request, neglecting the constituency’s progress. He further stated that both Sharma and Rana failed to address development issues in their respective areas.
Sukhu emphasised the repercussions of political defection, labeling those who leave the party and “sell themselves as ‘bikau’ (saleable) MLAs”. He expressed disappointment in former MLAs who distanced themselves from the Congress, accusing them of compromising their integrity for monetary gain and betraying public trust.
Sukhu condemned the practice of seeking financial incentives from constituents during elections, asserting that such actions tarnished the dignity of elected representatives.
Regarding recent political developments, Sukhu denounced the BJP’s “Operation Lotus” strategy, citing its failures in Delhi despite successes in Maharashtra and Karnataka. He accused rebel MLAs, including Sudhir and Rana, of exploiting their positions for personal gain, particularly in the mining sector. Sukhu revealed an alleged scam involving mining activities in the state, promising an investigation into the matter.
Asserting his commitment to his constituents, Sukhu declared himself both the Chief Minister and MLA of Sujanpur, pledging to prioritise the constituency’s development during his tenure. He assured residents that their concerns would be addressed promptly and comprehensively.
In anticipation of upcoming elections, Sukhu affirmed Congress’s readiness to announce candidates and expressed confidence in the electorate’s response to the government’s achievements during its 15-month tenure. He dismissed former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur’s aspirations for power, asserting that the people of Himachal Pradesh would support the Congress in the polls, thwarting BJP’s alleged schemes.
