Shimla:

The Himachal Pradesh government will clear all pending medical reimbursement bills of pensioners within a month, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced in Shimla on Monday (December 8, 2025). The decision came after a meeting between the Chief Minister and representatives of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of pensioners.

The assurance follows the JAC’s protest rally on November 28 in Dharamshala, held during the Assembly session, where pensioners voiced their grievances and demanded an urgent Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) meeting to address long-standing issues.

According to the committee, thousands of pensioners who retired between January 1, 2016, and January 31, 2021, have not yet received revised payments for leave encashment, commutation, gratuity, 13 per cent dearness allowance and medical bills pending for the last three years.

JAC representatives welcomed the government’s decision but urged swift implementation, stating that delays in payments had caused severe financial strain on senior citizens who depend on timely reimbursements. The Chief Minister has directed the departments concerned to expedite the process and ensure that all dues are settled within the stipulated period.
