Video of Himachal BJP MLA Vipin Parmar rebuking IAS officer goes viral on social media


DHARAMSHALA: A video showing BJP MLA and former Himachal Pradesh Minister Vipin Singh Parmar sternly addressing Nurpur SDM Gursimar Singh has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread criticism.


The incident occurred in Kangra district during a protest march and Tiranga Yatra led by Parmar and his supporters, held near the Bachat Building in Nurpur. The march was organised to protest the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.


In the video, SDM Gursimar Singh is seen standing with his head bowed as Parmar confronts him. When the officer steps forward to accept a memorandum, Parmar is heard saying, “Don’t be in such a hurry. If you rush things, we will be forced to explore other options.”

He further added, “The governments will come and go, but if the nation survives, only then will your bureaucracy survives.”


Following the media attention, Parmar moderated his tone, stating that public anger over the Pahalgam attack had prompted a strong emotional reaction. He clarified that there was no intent to hurt the officer.
The SDM, seen in the video offering a clarification, stated that he accepted the memorandum only when Parmar handed it over and denied any undue haste.


Vipin Singh Parmar is a four-time MLA from Sulah near Palampur and served as Health Minister in the previous government. He was later appointed Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.


SDM Gursimar Singh is a 2020-batch IAS officer from Jalandhar in Punjab. Prior to joining the civil services, he worked as a manager with Engineers India Limited and cleared the UPSC examination in his fourth attempt.


The video has triggered sharp reactions online, with many users condemning the tone and conduct of the BJP legislator.
