Dharamshala:
On the fifth day of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly’s winter session at Tapovan in Dharamshala, proceedings began on a charged note as BJP legislators staged a protest outside the Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday (December 2, 2025), minutes before the House convened.
Led by Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, BJP MLAs gathered at the entrance of the Assembly holding placards with slogans against the state government’s newly introduced Job Trainee Policy. The legislators raised slogans accusing the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government of “denying regular employment” and “playing with the future of educated youth”.
Jai Ram Thakur said the government was “misleading the youth” by offering two-year trainee appointments instead of regular posts. “This Job Trainee Policy is nothing but exploitation. The government must immediately withdraw it and start issuing regular appointments,” he demanded.
The winter session of the Vidhan Sabha is currently being held at the Tapovan complex in Dharamshala. it is witnessing heated exchanges between the treasury and opposition benches on issues ranging from employment and disaster relief to stalled recruitments and fiscal stress.
The BJP Legislature Party accused the government of rolling out a policy that forces young aspirants to work on trainee status for two years with lower remuneration and no job security. “This is a betrayal of the youth who have been waiting for regular jobs for years,” the MLAs shouted as they marched outside the Assembly gates.
