The Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has introduced the Him Bus Card facility for passengers, announced Ajay Verma, Vice-Chairperson of HRTC. Travelers can now obtain the card at Kangra Bus Stand, other bus terminals across the state, and through online platforms.
Verma stated that, in line with government directives, free and concessional travel facilities will now be made available digitally.
💳 Him Bus Card Details
- Cost: ₹200 plus GST (includes first-year concession)
- Annual Renewal: ₹150 plus GST from the second year onwards
- Changes in source/destination/class/designation: ₹50 plus GST
- Replacement (lost/damaged card): ₹200 plus GST; valid for one year with renewal required thereafter
👥 Eligible Beneficiaries
The Him Bus Card scheme covers a wide range of beneficiaries, including:
- All women passengers across Himachal Pradesh
- Students of government schools (up to Class 12), colleges, and private/government institutions
- State and Central government employees, corporation and board staff
- Police personnel (Constable to Inspector) and Jail Department officials (Warden to Assistant Superintendent)
- Former MLAs and MPs, freedom fighters and their spouses
- Accredited journalists at state and district level
- Gallantry award winners, war widows, and specially-abled persons
- Widows of deceased or retired HRTC employees
- Secretariat security staff
- Students of Central Universities and Kendriya Vidyalayas
- Leprosy patients
- State award-winning children (up to 21 years) and National Award-winning teachers
Verma emphasized that the initiative will ensure greater convenience and transparency, allowing eligible passengers to avail concessions seamlessly through a digital medium.
