Hamirpur:
Known for its academic excellence, Hamirpur district has added yet another feather to its cap by securing first place in Himachal Pradesh in the National PARAKH Survey 2024, conducted under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The results were officially announced on June 25.
Taking a major leap on the national front, Himachal Pradesh as a whole has improved its position dramatically, moving from 21st place to now being ranked among the top five states in the country.
The survey assessed learning outcomes across various levels of schooling. From Hamirpur, a total of 2,230 students from 106 schools, covering Classes 3, 6 and 9, participated in the evaluation. To ensure smooth and effective execution of the survey, the state Education Department deployed 106 field investigators, all trained JBT (Junior Basic Training) trainee teachers, who worked directly with students at the school level.
In preparation for the final assessment, the Education Department conducted three rounds of oral testing, supervised at the district level. Based on the insights gathered from these initial rounds, corrective measures were implemented before the final survey was held on December 4, 2024.
Students sat for standardised subject-based exams as part of the national evaluation, and their strong performance brought recognition to the district at the state level.
District Project Officer Paramjeet Dogra expressed pride in the achievement, stating, “Hamirpur securing the top position in Himachal is a matter of great pride for the entire district. This success is the result of collective effort, planning and dedication by teachers, students and administrative staff.”
This accomplishment underscores Hamirpur’s ongoing commitment to quality education and sets a benchmark for other districts aiming to improve learning outcomes under the NEP framework.
