A seven-day spiritual discourse on the Shri Shiv Mahapurana was inaugurated today at the sports complex in Killar, Pangi. The sessions, running until August 7, are being led by internationally acclaimed spiritual orator and Jyotish Samrat, Pujya Raghav Rishi Ji, a respected scholar from Kashi.

The event began with a ceremonial procession at 10:00 AM, where 51 women carried sacred water from the Chandrabhaga river in earthen pots atop their heads. The grand Kalash Yatra commenced from the ancient Pandava-era Shiva Temple in the local market and proceeded through the town, culminating at the storytelling venue.

Starting at 11:00 AM, Pujya Rishi Ji emphasized the spiritual and literary significance of the Shiv Purana, which comprises 24,000 verses across seven sections. He narrated episodes including the story of Devraj and Dhundhali, underlining that sincere and focused listening brings profound spiritual benefits — especially when one inspires others to join.

The session also featured devotional offerings by Rishi Ji’s son, Saurabh Rishi, who began with a prayer to Lord Ganesha and concluded with a soul-stirring hymn, “Aao Mahima Gaayein Bholenath Ki”.

Local dignitaries and devotees including Shivnath Sharma, Prem Thakur, Roshan Rana, Bhani Chand, Rajendra Thakur, Rajiv Sharma, and others performed the evening Aarti, adding to the devotional fervor.

Media coordinator Shiv Suryavanshi informed that Friday’s discourse will explore the metaphysical significance of Lord Shiva’s formless aspect through the legend of the Shivling Mahatmya.
