The Himachal Pradesh government will give Rs 1,500 each per month from the financial year 2024-25 to more than five lakh eligible women aged 18 to 60 years under the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Scheme. Social security pension for women aged above 60 years has already been increased to Rs 1,500 per month.
The eligible women will have to fill a form to avail the benefit of Rs 1,500. In this, the beneficiary will have to provide various types of certificates, category, government job, income and other information along with her personal information. The government has released the form.
The state government will spend approximately Rs 800 crore annually in implementing the fifth pre-poll guarantee of the Congress government. The state government will get the forms filled for all eligible women. In the first phase, the government gave honorarium to the women of Lahaul-Spiti. It has been announced that 2.45 lakh women of the state got Rs 1,500 per month from February 1. These are women aged above 60 years, single women, etc.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had on Monday announced that the government would give Rs 1,500 per month to women in the age group of 18 to 60 years from the next financial year. This was one of the 10 pre-poll “guarantees” promised by the Congress ahead of the Assembly polls.
Addressing the media in Shimla, he had said that Rs 800 crore would be spent on the initiative annually and over five lakh women would be covered under it. He said that with this, five of the 10 poll promises had been fulfilled and reiterated that the old pension scheme had been restored, benefitting 1.36 lakh government employees.
