Hamirpur: Vijay Rana, an aerospace engineer and distinguished alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, who is basically from Delhi, has landed in the hills of Himachal Pradesh to follow his true calling — teaching. On Saturday, Rana addressed a packed auditorium at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Hamirpur, during The Newz Radar’s prestigious “Shining Star Awards” ceremony.

The event, organized to honour meritorious students who scored above 90% in their Class 10 and 12 examinations, witnessed the presence of over 1,200 attendees, including proud parents, educators, and students. Member of Parliament and Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Vijay Rana was among the special invitees who delivered impactful addresses.

Speaking with heartfelt clarity, Rana urged students to prioritize education in government institutions after Class 12, citing the credibility and quality they offer. However, his message was more than academic — it was deeply rooted in values and life choices. “The pressure to conform to peer expectations is intense,” he said, “but don’t ever compromise your future by getting involved in drugs or illicit activities. Your mind is your biggest asset — protect it.”

Having worked in the aerospace sector on national-level projects, Rana’s shift to education has inspired many in the region. He now dedicates his time to mentoring and teaching students, especially in STEM fields, aiming to bridge the gap between global scientific progress and local access to knowledge.

The Newz Radar, a prominent media group in Himachal Pradesh, organized the “Shining Star Awards” to celebrate academic excellence and provide a platform where achievers are recognized and inspired by leaders from different walks of life. This initiative has been widely appreciated for boosting student morale and promoting a culture of discipline, ambition, and service.

Rana’s message struck an emotional chord with both students and parents, reinforcing that real success is not just about marks, but about choosing the right path — one grounded in knowledge, discipline, and purpose.
