The tribal sub-division of Bharmour witnessed a fresh spell of snowfall starting Monday night, which continued intermittently till Tuesday afternoon. By evening, the intensity of snowfall increased once again across the region.
In view of the prevailing weather conditions and the possibility of avalanches in the upper reaches, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Bharmour, Vikash Sharma, issued an advisory urging residents not to step out of their homes unless absolutely necessary. He specifically advised people living in the upper areas of Kugti Panchayat, Badgram Panchayat, Garima Panchayat, as well as the higher regions of Holi and Bharmour tehsils, to remain alert and cautious.
The SDM also informed that the Bharmour administration has completed the assessment of damage caused to houses due to the recent windstorm in the area. Affected families have been provided with tarpaulins as immediate relief.
Meanwhile, Assistant Engineer Krishan Chand from the Electricity Department stated that out of 176 transformers in the Bharmour area, 49 remained non-functional till Tuesday. He assured that restoration work is underway and the remaining transformers will be made operational soon.
Additionally, the Jal Shakti Department reported that three drinking water schemes—Thathan, Garola, and Runkothi—are currently disrupted. Assistant Engineer Vivek Chandel said that departmental staff are working round-the-clock under challenging conditions to restore water supply at the earliest.
