A tragic incident was reported from Bharmaur, where a Class-IV employee of the Forest Department lost his life after slipping into a snow-covered nallah.
The deceased has been identified as Sufal Ram (59), son of Thinu Ram, a resident of Samra village, Post Office Urei, Tehsil Bharmaur. He was working at the Runkothi Nursery under the Forest Department, Bharmaur.
According to information, the incident occurred on Wednesday when Sufal Ram was returning home after completing his duty. While crossing the Runkothi (Samra) Nallah, his foot slipped on snow, causing him to fall into a deep gorge. When he did not return home by evening, family members began searching for him and found him in an injured condition in the nallah.
Despite being rescued, Sufal Ram succumbed to his injuries due to excessive bleeding and severe trauma. On Thursday, Bharmaur Police registered a case under relevant sections of the BNS/SS and conducted a post-mortem examination before handing over the body to the bereaved family.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Bharmaur, Vikas Sharma, said that all possible assistance will be provided to the affected family.
The incident has also been confirmed by DSP Chamba Baldev Dutt.
The unfortunate death has cast a pall of gloom over the area, with locals expressing grief and sympathy for the victim’s family.
