President Droupadi Murmu is set to reach Himachal Pradesh on Saturday (May 4, 2024) on a five-day visit spanning till May 8. She will be putting up at the presidential summer residence Rashtrapati Niwas, located in Chharabra near Shimla.
During her visit, President Murmu’s itinerary includes a visit to the catchment area of Kufri on May 5, followed by attending the convocation ceremony at Central University in Dharamshala on May 6. On May 7, she will commence her day with prayers at the Sankat Mochan and Taradevi temples near Shimla, followed by a stroll along the renowned Mall Road and Ridge ground.
Additionally, there are plans for an evening visit to the historic Gaiety Theatre on Mall Road. President Murmu is scheduled to return to Delhi on May 8.
Amidst President Murmu’s visit, the Himachal Health Department is maintaining a vigilant stance. A dedicated team will monitor the President’s health round-the-clock, with additional teams tasked with scrutinising her staff.
Stringent COVID-19 protocols are in place, with mandatory RTPCR tests for any individual intending to meet the President. Moreover, the department will sample the President’s food before consumption, ensuring her safety. Similar precautions extend to temple prasad consumption.
Meanwhile, IGMC management has finalised arrangements for President Murmu’s visit. In anticipation of VIP movement, two special wards have been reserved, with heightened security measures in place. Intelligence agencies and police personnel have conducted thorough assessments of hospital security. Additionally, IGMC management has ensured adequate medical resources, with reserves of O-positive blood group units readily available.
