MANDI: The 10th International Yoga Day, celebrated globally, embraced the theme ‘Yoga for Self and Society’ this year. In Mandi, a district-level event was organised at Seri Manch, under the auspices of the AYUSH department. The event witnessed active participation from various social organisations within the district.
Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan graced the occasion as the chief guest. He inaugurated the programme with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, marking the commencement of the district-level Yoga Day celebrations. Following the inauguration, Deputy Commissioner Devgan, along with hundreds of attendees, engaged in a comprehensive yoga session at Seri Manch, advocating the practice of yoga for a healthy lifestyle.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised the significance of yoga in daily life. He highlighted the collective effort of people from all walks of life in promoting the message of health and well-being through yoga on this international occasion. He urged everyone to integrate yoga into their daily routines to ensure health and longevity.
The event also featured informative sessions by the AYUSH department, detailing various yoga postures, their correct execution and the optimal times for practice. The department’s initiative aimed at educating the public on the comprehensive benefits of yoga, ensuring a well-rounded approach to physical and mental wellness.
The successful celebration at Seri Manch stands as a testament to the growing importance and acceptance of yoga as a vital part of daily life, fostering a healthier and more harmonious society. Various social organisations also organised individual yoga sessions in other parts of the town, including historical Panchwaktar temple complex and Court Complex. Similarly, Rotary Club-Sundernagar also organised a yoga session for its members on international yoga day.
