A five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) for teachers, organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Research Advisory Committee (RAC) of Abhilashi University, commenced on January 6, 2025, and will continue until January 10, 2025.
Held in the university auditorium, the programme is being conducted in a hybrid mode (both online and offline) and is designed exclusively for the professors, associate professors and assistant professors of the university.
The primary aim of this initiative is to equip educators with advanced academic methodologies, modern technological tools, and insights into the latest research trends. The event features expert lectures, hands-on practical sessions and interactive activities aimed at enhancing teaching capabilities.
Inaugural ceremony highlights
The programme’s inaugural ceremony was presided over by Abhilashi University Chancellor Dr RK Abhilashi as the chief guest. The event commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by an inspiring address by Dr Abhilashi.
He emphasised the significance of innovation and quality in education, urging educators to embrace technological advancements and continually upgrade their skills to meet the dynamic demands of the teaching profession.
The university’s Pro-Chancellor commended the FDP as a forward-thinking initiative aimed at skill development and the adoption of modern teaching methodologies.
In his address, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof HK Chaudhary, highlighted the challenge of inspiring students in today’s fast-evolving academic landscape. He stressed the importance of adopting cutting-edge techniques and leveraging the expertise of renowned educators from Himachal Pradesh, across India and abroad.
Prof Chaudhary also emphasised the dual responsibility of educators: personal productivity and the implementation of effective, technology-enabled teaching strategies.
He noted that such programs not only upskill educators but also boost their confidence, ultimately strengthening the education system.
Programme objectives and key highlights
The FDP aims to enhance teaching skills and familiarise educators with the latest academic trends. By participating in this program, teachers are gaining practical exposure to new technologies and their applications in education.
On the occasion, the presence of esteemed dignitaries such as Pro-Chancellor Dr L.K. Abhilashi, Chairperson of Genius Education Society Dr Narvada Abhilashi, Vice-Chairperson of Abhilashi Education Society Dr Promila Abhilashi, Secretary Narendra Kumar, Registrar Dr Kapil Kapoor, department heads, and other officials added prestige to the event.
The programme is spearheaded by Dr PC Sharma, IQAC Head and Program Director; Dr Vivek Chauhan, Director of Research and Organizing Chairman; and Dr Reena, Organising Secretary and Education Department Coordinator.
Expert sessions and active participation
On the first day, Dr Rakesh Kapoor, an expert speaker, conducted an engaging session on creative teaching methods, the effective use of digital tools, and time management. The sessions were highly interactive, with participants actively sharing their experiences and perspectives.
Teachers described the FDP as a valuable platform for professional growth, enabling them to enhance their knowledge and teaching capabilities.
