Congress national secretary and Dharamshala MLA Sudhir Sharma announced on Wednesday that 7,000 high-tech street lights will be installed in Dharamshala by June.
The initiative aims to enhance urban infrastructure and is part of the smart city project’s Integrated Control and Command Centre.
Sharma said that as of January 24, 1,300 street lights have already been installed, meeting the initial target by Republic Day. Additionally, the work on the Integrated Control and Command Centre project is progressing, with its headquarters being established in Charan.

Sharma highlighted the significance of this project, as it consolidates more than 17 civic services onto one platform. He emphasized the positive impact observed in various cities with similar initiatives and expressed confidence that Dharamshala’s smart city project will be successful.

In addition to the smart city developments, Sharma mentioned efforts to increase green spaces in the city, park development, and the conversion of a dump site in Sudher into a park. The roads in Sudher are also in good condition, hosting facilities like gazebos for public interaction. Sharma urged officials involved in the smart city project to meet deadlines promptly and assured the public that any issues could be addressed through contact with his three MLA offices. He also stressed the importance of collaboration between the water and power departments to ensure a steady water supply during winter and called for action on drainage systems, resolving revenue department dependencies, and swift resolution of property inheritance matters.
